Community spirit

On Thetis Island you’ll find locals nourished by the awe found in nature and the empowerment that comes from collaborating with neighbours. A community spirit that is experienced through projects like The People’s Apothecary Garden and the Thetis Island Nature Conservancy.

These tranquil nature spaces provide a sense of magic—particularly palpable in places like the aptly named “Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve,” and the fritillaries, garry oaks, and wildflower meadows of Moore Hill. The Thetis Island community invites guests to spend a slow afternoon exploring these sensitive ecosystems, being mindful of where they’re stepping.

Go with the slow

A whole day too can be spent on Thetis Island’s pebbly beaches—dip in rock pools, spy passing marine wildlife, and soak in the sunset as you look west across Stuart Channel to Vancouver Island. Pilkey Point in the northeast, with its clear water, warming rocks, and gently sloping beach access is a wonderful spot to while away your time, undisturbed.

A tranquil getaway

A multi-generational community farm with regenerative practices, a pizza spot, quirky accommodations, and two marinas (importantly, with ice cream) await those curious enough to seek them in this tranquil, tucked-away corner of the Cowichan region.
